Politics, The Future No Comments
Looking at the current political difficulties in the Netherlands has taught me something about the way modern society works. It is no longer a society in which a person can be defined by just their job. No, times have changed. Times have changed in such a way that by the increasingly complexity of society people have started to vote more and more on little things that will personally benefit them.
I feel that the current political system can no longer fully support modern society because of the shift in common and mixed personal interest.
Therefor change is immanent. The flaws in the system are starting to show.
When the first results of the elections on June 9th were published, it immediately showed larger political differences between certain parts of the country. The Dutch government has always been based on coalitions, but this time it was different. Where the CDA had won the previous elections, this time it was both VVD and PvdA. People fled to both sides of the system, left and right, presumably because of the way the current economic and social systems work.
This led me to ask myself; ” Can countries still be based around locations or should we led go of the location based government and let people form their own communities that take special care of the inhabitants needs?”
I think it would be a great way to solve some of the differences that people have about the way they want to live. If you do not agree with the majority of your community, then you could just leave. This could really lead to innovation on ways to run countries, but might also prove to be a facilitator for dictatorships.
